A friend of mine, Nga, got married last month, and although I was attending the reception as a guest, that didn’t stop James and I from bringing our good ol’ cameras. Quite honestly, I wasn’t exactly the happiest camper when I saw how my photos were turning out that evening, and it hit me that I’d much rather photograph a wedding than attend one. As always, James did what he could to get me out of my emo mindset and by the end of the night, I actually ended up having a lot of fun (yay!). We even made friends with one of the working photographers that evening. :)

Melissa Otero performed the last show from her Free Spirit Tour this past Wednesday night at Fontana’s Bar in NYC. It was my first time actually seeing her perform (this doesn’t include her singing during our photo shoots). I was also able to snag a copy of her CD (you know, the one with my work in the cover, lol). Below are a few of my favorite shots from the event.

As promised, here is the session that I shot with Tiffany. Her aim was to get some nifty acting headshots—I used this opportunity to test out the new canvas backdrop that I painted a few weeks ago. I’m just that sneaky! For these first two, a spotlight was placed on the canvas directly behind her (sorry, no fake vignetting). Despite it being so grungy, I love how soft it is in this scenario. I think I was squealing when I saw how the first few shots came out.

Different light setup for the next two; we removed the spotlight in the back and brought it over to the right side as a kicker, and I think she was also sitting closer to the backdrop, so it wasn’t completely blurred out like the last two. Tiffany’s not a very girly-girl (I like) so these last few are probably a better reflection of her personality. At this point is was just a lot of goofing off, since the first headshots portion was done and over with. I was also tag-teaming with Andrew, a mutual friend and awesome photographer who had brought her over. It was a long (and fun) day. :)

I was a second shooter for George Delgado again for Christian and Emel’s big day in July. Bride and groom prep took place at the Hilton Inn, a few miles away from Westbury Manor, where both the ceremony and reception took place. Beautiful area, complete with roaming peacocks and little bridges.

Continuation! Part 2 of Christian and Emel’s wedding that took place at Westbury Manor in Long Island, NY. The ceremony was lovely, taking place outdoors at the manor’s gardens just before sunset.
