A few weeks ago, I was down in Virgina second shooting a wedding with Li, who runs Estate Serenity Imagery. Quite a trip! But the wedding (and couple!) were gorgeous and the folks were super awesome.

Before heading over to the ceremony, we picked up the flowers that everyone would be wearing/holding to photograph them in advance. I got to play with a LensBaby Composer for the first time (thanks Li!), and now I’m determined to buy one! The images that come out of that lens are gorgeous! Case in point: first image here.

While Li was off with the gals, I was handling groom portraits at their apartment (in NY-language, it’s a house). The guys were awesome and fun to be around. They also convinced me to stick around for the reception even though I had the choice of taking off for the rest of the night. =P

The wedding ceremony itself took place at a reception hall at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Gorgeous area. It was originally planned to be outdoors, but it was drizzling that day, so it was taken indoors. By the end of the ceremony, the sun came out and Li took the formal portraits outdoors on the lawn.

P.S. They had a friend of theirs officiating at the wedding. How awesome is that??

Over at the Piccadilly’s Public House, known locally as Brew Pub, was Brian and Andrea’s wedding reception. I love how they have string lights everywhere.

This one was one of my favorites from the day. And that’s weird, because I don’t like pink all that much.

Last week James and I worked with the September Concert Foundation (second time for me), this time shooting for their main event at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC. There were three choirs, and the music was beautiful. I loved the third, younger and more colorful choir… mostly because they danced and were so upbeat! At the end, the three choirs joined into one ginorma-choir and belted out “Give Us Hope”, the foundation’s theme song. Go buy that song in iTunes. I did, after I couldn’t get it out of my head.

That same night, the September Concert Foundation’s benefit event was held at the United Nations Delegates Dining Hall. FYI, they are open to the public during weekdays before 5pm and serve cuisines from around the world, buffet style. I need to stop by there one of these days

Two of the speakers that you’ll see below are Haruko Smith, the founder of the September Concert Foundation, and Darryl Pottorf from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation (and an awesome artist!).
