I had the pleasure of shooting for one of Nadia and Girish’s pre-wedding events last week… henna party time! The event space is part of her building, which is a beautiful place, might I add. For about the first half of the event, I was able to shoot using just the sunlight streaming through the large windows (yay for more hours of sun during warm weather).

Nadia’s henna was gorgeous! But, there’s really not much you can do if you’re the bride at one of these events. Fresh henna covering the entire hand kind of leaves you helpless… For example, not being able to fend yourself from your husband-to-be. :) On the bright side, you don’t have to deal with feeding yourself!

I’m not usually one to work with these sort of “open” shots, as I have a habit of filling in the frame with face/body, but I felt the compulsion to drag Nadia and my lighting gear over for the shot above.

Yay, last two photos I wanted to post.

Wedding dress, with some desaturation… Also had to tone down the brightness to get some detail out of the dress… it’s visible on my screen but probably not if you’re using one of those newfangled high-contrast display monitors. =P Man, I need to get calibrated. (One of those things on my to-do list after redesigning my portfolio.)

Yes, another cake photo… Kind of wanted one on its own though, rather than as a collage like the other ones. I used to shoot everything on a straight line. I blame Andrew for all these images that I’m taking at weird angles.

I’m kind of fascinated by the panel-like way the last few images were laid out in the last post, so I did it again. Okay, so five images in one might be a bit overkill… but I kind of like it. After this post, I do have one more dress shot that I wanted to get up and that should pretty much be it for the Patti/Jeff wedding set. Which will probably suck for me because I don’t know what’s after deux and trois for my entry titles.

And finally… photos from the reception!

No, I’m not done yet. Just got through the other half of the proofs for the couple tonight, so that’s off my hands for a little while. In the meantime I got around to actually editing some images today. Long-ish post… I have quite a few more that I really like and want to post on here. And… not in chronological order.

First… Patti and a preview of the reception hall (Linden Place)

She loves pool… rings shot during the after-party at the pool hall next door.

Lastly… Patti and the bridesmaids, Jeff, the groom, and the couple. Smooches! :)

James and I were both guests and photographers at Patti’s wedding this past weekend, lugging around a Pelican case full of our gear. Good learning experience overall. Took a lot of photos, forced myself to get used to high ISO, and my arm ended up sore the next day from using the longer (and heavier) lenses. Below are a few of my favorite shots.

I should note so that I don’t scare people off—I was too lazy to photoshop so I only adjusted for color, but not contrast… so some of the whites are blown out. :) I’m actually still making proofs for the couple, but I just wanted to get something out.

Below are the cute stuffed…Mickey/Minnie? on the limo… as well as the cute couple walking out of the bride’s home after the tea ceremony. And of course, some drinky drinky. :) Expect a few more entries to come with photos from the wedding (and more photos of the couple!!).
